Greece deploys more than 80 tanks and armored personnel carriers to the border with Turkey

Greece is moving dozens of tanks and armored personnel carriers to the border area with Turkey.

This morning, dozens of tanks and armored personnel carriers of the Greek Armed Forces were seen on the border of Greece and Turkey. The latter are massively deployed just 3 kilometers from the border with Turkey, which, according to a number of Turkish information resources, indicates the likely start of an armed confrontation between Athens and Ankara.

At the moment, it is known that up to 60 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as several dozen tanks, were pulled into the area of the Maritsa River. All weapons after unloading are immediately deployed in already prepared field fortifications. Moreover, a number of sources note that positions of Greek artillery are deployed 7-8 kilometers to the west, which, according to Turkish media resources, indicates preparations for the start of large-scale clashes between Athens and Ankara.

“According to photographs and information provided today by sources in Western Thrace, Greece is intensively moving armored vehicles and tanks to the Turkish border. Earlier, the Greek armed forces began to dig anti-tank trenches on the banks of the Maritsa River, which forms the border line between Turkey and Greece in Western Thrace. In early June, Greece put its army in the eastern Aegean on high alert due to "threats from Turkey", Turkish information resources said in a statement.

There are no official comments from Athens by the current hour, however, the increased tension between Greece and Turkey indicates that there will still be a conflict between the two states.
