The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the Taliban of breaking promises not to attack neighboring states.

The deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Rudenko, said that the leadership of the Taliban terrorist movement (banned in Russia - editor's note) does not fulfill its obligations to control terrorists on the border with neighboring countries. Russia is concerned that Taliban-controlled groups have declared their readiness to attack Tajikistan, and the movement itself several weeks earlier sent large detachments of terrorists, armored vehicles and weapons to the Afghan-Tajik border. This also indicates an attempt to escalate the situation in the region.

According to a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the situation in Afghanistan is a very serious concern. In this regard, the Russian side is closely following the actions of the terrorists. At the same time, Rudenko expressed the hope that the Taliban would nevertheless fulfill their earlier promises.

“We are closely following what is happening in Afghanistan, primarily in the northern territories. Indeed, there is evidence that the Taliban are unable to control the situation. But nevertheless, we hope that the promises they made will be fulfilled. If necessary, Tajikistan will be provided with all the necessary assistance, both within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and on a bilateral basis ”- Andrey Rudenko said in an interview with IA "Interfax".

Earlier, Russia and Tajikistan held major military exercises, demonstrating to the Taliban their readiness to completely destroy terrorists in the event of an attack on Tajikistan.
