A number of NATO countries may send troops to Ukraine

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, former Secretary General of NATO, spoke about the possibility of deploying troops of NATO member countries in Ukraine in the future, noting that this could happen in the event of a lack of real security guarantees from the alliance, including from the United States. His comments were published in the British newspaper The Guardian.

According to him, if the summit in Vilnius on July 15 does not provide clear security guarantees to Kiev, some countries of the alliance, such as Poland and the Baltic countries, may consider taking measures on their own, up to the deployment of their military forces on Ukrainian territory.

Statements like these cause concern and discussion because they point to a possible strengthening of NATO's military presence in Eastern Europe. This development of events may lead to increased tension and intensification of the conflict in Ukraine.

Rasmussen also clarified that if NATO cannot agree on a specific plan for Ukraine, the likelihood that individual countries may decide to act independently increases significantly.
