The US will send 20% more Himars systems to Ukraine.

A few hours ago, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive additional military assistance from the United States totaling $ 800 million, which would include additional Himars MLRS in the amount of four units. Officially, the United States intends to announce the supply of weapons to Ukraine within the next few hours, while there remains a very serious danger that the United States will also transfer ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 165 kilometers to Ukraine.

To date, the United States has transferred 16 Himars MLRS to Ukraine, which, taking into account the upcoming deliveries, will allow Kyiv to increase the number of such weapons by 20% - up to 20 launchers. Taking into account the 6 units of the M270 MLRS MLRS and 3 MARS II MLRS units that the Armed Forces have, the total number of such weapons in Ukraine will increase to 29 units.

However, the likely supply of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine is much more dangerous, since if today the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use Himars MLRS to strike at distances up to 86 kilometers, then with the use of these missiles, the target engagement range will double, - up to 165 kilometers.

Among other things, given that long-range ER GMLRS munitions have begun to enter service with the United States, which have not yet been tested, there is a risk that the United States may provide Ukraine with these missiles, albeit in small quantities.
