An Mi-8 helicopter carrying soldiers from the Wagner PMC was shot down in Mali.

Militants of the Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam Wal-Muslimeen (JNIM) group, which has ties to the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda (banned in Russia - editor's note), published photographs of the wreckage of a helicopter, which, according to them, was shot down by them on September 9 in the Segou region, located in Mali.

In the photographs presented you can see various fragments of the crashed aircraft. Judging by these fragments, we are talking about the crash of an Mi-8 helicopter. The MTO news agency confirms that both members of the Malian Armed Forces and members of a private military company known as Wagner were on board.

After reports of a helicopter crash, both representatives of the Malian Armed Forces and the Wagner PMC were sent to the crash site. According to preliminary data, the arriving military decided to destroy the fuselage of the aircraft with an explosion. It is possible that this was done to prevent the militants from obtaining certain information or equipment.

It should be noted that after this, militants have recently intensified attacks on Mali government troops and units of the Wagner PMC, which, in all likelihood, was caused by a change in the situation in the private military company after the death of the PMC leadership.
