French aircraft carrier nearly lost 7 fighter jets Rafale

Seven Rafale could not sit on the deck of "Charles de Gaulle" off the coast of Indonesia

In the Indonesian media tells about the incident that occurred on the French aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle". On Saturday, May 18, seven Dassault Rafale fighters, completing the next stage of the exercise, which was conducted with the Indonesian military aircraft, had to return to the aircraft carrier, but they could not do it.

At a time when the planes were supposed to land on the deck of an aircraft carrier, it was located approximately 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers) west of the exclusive economic zone off the island of Sumatra. On the way, Rafale met bad weather. The exercise area was covered with thick fog. It also rained heavily. The pilots made an attempt to land at Charles de Gaulle, but since this was a “threat”, it was decided to abandon the landing.

A new landing site was chosen Indonesia Air Force Base in Aceh province. Moreover, as it was found out, the two Rafale had technical problems. True, their character is not reported.

As noted by the Indonesian Air Force Command, Indonesian technical workers checked the technical condition of the landed aircraft. After consulting with French specialists, they decided to leave two aircraft at the air base until technical problems were resolved. The remaining five fighters, after the weather improved, returned to the aircraft carrier.
