The head of the US Navy announced his intention to send a US carrier strike group to the Arctic this summer. The main reason for this is the need to test the effectiveness of the American military fleet in extreme conditions, since the head of the US Navy himself expressed doubts about whether warships could operate effectively in conditions of extreme cold.

“Ticonderoga-type cruisers were the last ships to use a steam plant to clean the hull of ice. Crews of newer ships have to repel the ice from gun turrets, decks and helipads manually. ”- said Richard Spencer.
