The Sarmat missile will be put into service no earlier than 2021
The commander of the Strategic Missile Forces called the timing of the adoption of the Sarmat missiles.
At the moment, the Russian military have completed only throwing tests of the Russian Sarmat intercontinental missile complex, while there are still a number of different tests to be conducted. According to the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel-General Sergei Karakaev, the adoption of this strategic missile system is scheduled for 2021 year.
It should be clarified that previously there was information that the Sarmat missiles could be put into service in 2020 and even in 2019, however, as it turned out, this information turned out to be unreliable.
Earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, stated that the Sarmat rocket far exceeded its predecessors, in particular, the rocket could carry high-powered warheads and at the same time overcome the enemy’s missile defense lines.
