Russia completes development of a new hypersonic missile for the Su-57 and Tu-22M3

The development of a new Russian hypersonic missile is coming to an end. It will be tested in a year.

Russia is completing the development of a unique hypersonic aircraft missile called Gremlin. It is known that the missile is supposed to be used not only on the latest fifth-generation Su-57 fighters, but also on long-range Tu-22M3 bombers. Moreover, apparently, the first tests of a hypersonic missile will begin next year, and in 2023 the rocket will be tested as part of its carrier aircraft.

Due to the secrecy of the latest domestic development, the exact characteristics of the unique Gremlin hypersonic missile have not been announced. Information provided by sources in the country's military-industrial complex indicates that the range of the Gremlin tactical hypersonic missile will be about 1,5-2 thousand kilometers, while the speed of the rocket in the final flight phase will reach 6 MAX.

Earlier it was reported that the new hypersonic missile may also appear in service with the Su-30 and Su-35 fighters. At the moment, this information has not yet received confirmation, which, nevertheless, will certainly make NATO seriously nervous, since today only Russia owns the means of intercepting hypersonic targets.
