According to the American edition of Defense One, against the background of Turkey’s exclusion from the fifth-generation F-35 fighter program, part of the combat aircraft can be transferred to the Ukrainian army. This is a sale of several fighters.

The reason why Ukraine can get several F-35 fighters lies primarily in the need to sell already produced aircraft, which will minimize the damage to manufacturers.

Nevertheless, several doubts have already been expressed on this fact, in particular, experts believe that the sale of F-35 fighters to Ukraine may be associated with the declassification of this aircraft, since at the moment this country is not a member of NATO, and its credibility remains extremely small. Moreover, given the close location of the Russian air defense systems to the borders of Ukraine, there are certain risks for these aircraft, which the US has no replacement for yet.

As for the cost of the F-35 fighter jets, it is only slightly higher than that of the 4 generation combat aircraft, and part of the cost may well be covered by gaining access to a number of US military bases in Ukraine, including the bases Navy in the Black Sea.
