A Ukrainian MiG-29 was shot down in the suburbs of Slovyansk while trying to attack Wagner aircraft.

A few hours ago, a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet was shot down near Slavyansk (n.p. Cherevkovka), which intended to attack aircraft used by Wagner PMC during the assault on Bakhmut and its environs. After the Ukrainian fighter was discovered by the Russian military, it was accurately hit by one of the fired homing missiles, as a result of which the target was successfully hit.

In all likelihood, the Ukrainian military intends to use a situation similar to the one that occurred the day before, when a Su-24M front-line bomber was shot down. However, due to the fact that the Ukrainian pilot climbed to a sufficiently high altitude, he was the first to be spotted, and the precisely fired missile left the enemy fighter no chance.

Among other things, according to information voiced by Russian war correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter could also have been hit here. The latter could carry out the transfer of personnel and ammunition to the front line area.

“The Ukrainian MiG-29 was shot down in an air battle in the Cherevkovka area, and in the Slavyansk area, the enemy lost a Mi-8 helicopter”- said Poddubny.

Considering that Ukraine has a small amount of military aviation assets, the loss of both a helicopter and a fighter jet will become a serious problem for Kyiv.
