The French military experienced a modernized "Meteora"

The message of the French Defense Purchasing Department refers to the recently conducted first flight tests of modernized air-to-air missiles, which have an increased radius of action. These are “Meteor” rockets, having air bases.

This message confirms the management of weapons of France. His press service said that the testing of the "Meteor" missiles was provided by the "Rafale" fighter jets, which are part of one of the squadrons of the naval forces (Navy). The planes made two missile launches. In this case, the first launch was made during the day, the second - at night.

Fighters "Rafale" piloted pilots of the Center for Military Aviation CEAM, as well as the Center for Experimental Research in the field of aviation technology, which is engaged in French naval aviation.

Missile launches controlled the above-mentioned arms control. At the same time, among other things, parameters characteristic of aircraft-based missiles after the launch were monitored. Controlled rocket engine, its speed characteristics, air resistance level and other components.

The upgraded rocket "Meteor" has a ramjet jet engine. It can intercept air targets at large distances. There is no specific distance information. It is stated only that, due to modernization, the rocket flies several dozen kilometers more. The previous version had a range of up to 110 kilometers.

It is known that "Meteor" has a mass of 190 kilograms. The diameter of this rocket is 178 millimeters. Speed ​​- 4,1 M.
