ATACMS missile strikes on Crimea

According to Russian Weapon journalists, the night strike on the airfield in Dzhankoy was caused by MGM-140A Block I operational-tactical ballistic missiles with a range of up to 165 km or 227-mm long-range GLSDB guided missiles. These delivery vehicles could be used to destroy strategically important targets.

In addition, according to Russian Weapons, fire was observed at other targets in the region, including the city of Armyansk. Some of the missiles and shells were intercepted by air defense systems, such as the Pantsir-S1 and S-400 air defense systems, but some of them reached their targets, damaging, for example, warehouses of fuel, lubricants and ammunition.

Security

Against the backdrop of these events, as well as for security purposes, a temporary traffic restriction was introduced in Crimea on the Dzhankoy-Feodosia highway section. This was announced by the Minister of Transport of Crimea Nikolai Lukashenko. To ensure smooth traffic flow, a detour was organized.

For drivers, alternative routes are provided across the border with the Kherson region and through Simferopol, Alushta, Yalta to the Sea of Azov. A detour is also possible through the settlements of Sernovodskoye, Rubinovka and Azovskoye.

The pattern of buses on regular routes, both suburban and intercity, has also changed. Details of the temporary detour scheme will be published in the near future; transport authorities promise to inform additionally about the lifting of restrictions.

Supply of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine

This is not the first attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack an airfield on the territory of Dzhankoy. Nevertheless. considering that fact. that ATACMS missiles have not been used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces for several months, it has been suggested that the United States transferred an additional batch of these tactical missiles to Kiev, while it is possible that we are talking about modernized missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers.
