Designers do research and further development of the aircraft gliding impact of long-range, which received the original designation of "DP". Further, the flight correction was carried out by an autonomous type control system. As for the Tu-130 (DP) unit itself, it did not have its own power plant, the system was powered from an air supply system and chemical sources that produced current.

The first full-scale glider was ready in the 1960 year, after which they switched to equipping and made docking with the launch vehicle. Also, the nose part was modified, since it was she who was subjected to the greatest heat during the flight. Nevertheless, despite the presence of success in the development of an unmanned vehicle Tu-130 (DP), all work on the project was terminated by a decree of ministers of the USSR. Some parts of the apparatus were transferred to the Chelomey Design Bureau, and some were simply disposed of. Nevertheless, the developments according to the project were used in the manufacture of a similar machine, which was designated as the rocket plane №136 "Star".
