Pobeda Airlines reduces flying aircraft from 41 to 25 - due to sanctions, there are not enough spare parts

Low-cost airline Pobeda is forced to reduce its fleet by 40%.

The domestic low-cost air carrier decided to reduce the number of aircraft flying by 40%. The reason for this is the lack of spare parts. In all likelihood, this is due to the sanctions imposed against Russia, especially since the fleet of Pobeda Airlines consists exclusively of Boeing 737-800 airliners.

Due to the decommissioning of 16 Boeing 737-800 passenger airliners, Pobeda expects to cover the need for spare parts in the near future, however, experts note that the current situation may have an extremely negative impact on the development of the route network of the only Russian low-cost airline.

“We have made a strategic decision. Tough, but strictly adjusted: in order to maintain flight safety and for the sake of our common future, we will reduce the fleet to 25 aircraft. The rest of the aircraft will not fly until the end of the year, so that the accumulated stock of spare parts will be enough for us until the lost supply chains are restored.”, - said in a letter to the acting general director of the company Andrey Yurikov.

To date, the fleet of the Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda consists of 41 passenger aircraft, however, due to the sanctions imposed, the carrier had to cancel flights to a number of international destinations, which is likely to lead to activities only within Russia.
