The State Duma wants to hold NATO accountable for the NATO military operation against Yugoslavia in 1999

The State Duma of the Russian Federation appealed to the UN, international parliamentary organizations, as well as the parliaments of foreign states with an appeal to condemn the NATO military operation against Yugoslavia in 1999. This statement was made by the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs and leader of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky. According to him, the Russian parliament is striving to achieve recognition by the international community of the illegality of NATO's actions in Yugoslavia and to hold the alliance accountable for aggression against a sovereign state.

On the eve of the 25th anniversary of the start of the bombing of Yugoslavia, Russian deputies emphasized the need for international condemnation of this operation as a serious violation of international law. The appeal contains calls to the UN and world parliaments to take measures to punish NATO member countries for their participation in aggression. According to Slutsky, such actions by the alliance cannot be presented as a peacekeeping mission and a correct historical assessment of events is required.
