During Israel’s missile attacks on the Syrian capital on the night of 17 in May 2019, several Russian fighters were lifted into the air from the Russian military Hmeimim airbase and sent to airspace in northern Damascus. According to available data, we are talking about a pair of Su-35 fighters who were preparing to intercept Israeli combat aircraft, which, as reported, still entered the airspace of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The consequences of the Israeli missile strike on the outskirts of the Syrian capital remain unknown. At the same time, according to sources in social networks, as evidenced by video recordings, the Israeli military are attacking not only ground targets.

Considering the flights of the Russian Federation VKS over Damascus, there is an assumption that Israel did not coordinate the military operation in Syria with the command of the Khmeimim airbase, which is a direct violation of the existing agreements, not to mention that, against this background, Russia can give the Syrian military access to the radar C-400, thereby allowing Israeli aircraft to attack even in Israeli airspace.
