New attacks have been carried out on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities

On the night of March 29, the Russian military launched large-scale attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities, using kamikaze drones of the Geranium-2 type, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles, including the Kh-101 and Kinzhal. These actions led to multiple explosions and serious damage in a number of Ukrainian regions, including Cherkasy, Dnepropetrovsk, Lviv, Poltava, Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as Sumy, Odessa, Kharkov, Krivoy Rog, Kiev, Ternopil, Khmelnitsky, Volyn, Vinnytsia, Zaporozhye and Zhytomyr .

Among the affected facilities are the Dnieper Thermal Power Plant, the Krivorozhskaya Thermal Power Plant, the Srednedneprovskaya Hydroelectric Power Station and the Pavlogradskaya Substation. The explosions also caused fires, including in the area of the Pridneprovskaya Thermal Power Plant in the Dnepropetrovsk region. As a result of the attacks, there are problems with power supply in the Cherkasy and Dnepropetrovsk regions, which threatens the energy stability of the region.

Estimates indicate that the Ukrainian energy grid is 50% destroyed. If such attacks continue, Kyiv may lose a significant part of its energy capacity, which is especially important during the cold season.

A distinctive feature of the current attacks is the targeted destruction of thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants, in contrast to the attacks of last year, when substations were the main targets.
