The Russian army dealt a significant blow to Ukraine’s defense capabilities by destroying the American MIM-104 Patriot air defense system on its territory. This incident, as reported by the foreign publication National Interest, takes the confrontation in the Eastern European theater to a new level, highlighting a critical loss for Kyiv in the face of an acute shortage of such weapons.

Known for its ability to destroy ballistic and cruise missiles at significant distances, the Patriot system is considered one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world. Its loss calls into question Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against air threats, especially since this system played a key role in the country’s air defense system.

In addition, attacks by Russian forces were not limited to air defense systems. According to Avia.pro, the fifth American Abrams tank, which was delivered to Ukraine last fall, was destroyed in the Avdiivka direction. Since its introduction to the front, the Abrams has become a priority target for Russian troops. According to available data, no more than 26 such tanks remain in service with the Ukrainian army.
