The Russian military began using modified Kh-101 missiles with a warhead mass of 800 kg

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation began using modified Kh-101 missiles during a special military operation. These modified projectiles allegedly received an increased warhead - from 450 to 800 kg, which makes it possible to inflict more significant destruction on targets. The uniqueness of the modification lies in the fact that the missile uses two warheads, the second of which contains cubic striking elements. To implement such changes, the Russian military reduced the volume of the fuel tank, which, however, did not affect the missile’s flight range and its effectiveness in Ukraine.

It is assumed that the increased power of the missiles will be used for targeted destruction of key facilities, including elements of the country's energy infrastructure. Among the possible targets, the DneproGES is mentioned, which could become one of the first targets for modified Kh-101 missiles.

The report comes amid increased attacks on Ukraine's energy and military infrastructure following the October 2022 Crimean Bridge incident, for which Russian authorities accused Kyiv of terrorism. Since then, air raid warning on Ukrainian territory has become an everyday reality.
