SBU agent who tried to blow up Prozorov detained

The Russian Federal Security Service announced the detention of an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack in Moscow, as a result of which the car of Vasily Prozorov, a former SBU officer, was blown up. The incident occurred on April 12, when Prozorov turned on the ignition of his car, which led to the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) with a yield of about 300 grams of TNT.

According to Russian intelligence services, the detainee was recruited by the Ukrainian side in October 2023 after he left for Ukraine from Russian territory. Vasily Prozorov, who held the position of senior expert consultant at the SBU, moved to Russia several years ago. In 2019, he held a press conference in Moscow, where he announced his activities in favor of the Russian intelligence services since April 2014.

Previously, in February 2023, Russian intelligence services had already thwarted an assassination attempt on Prozorov, highlighting the ongoing threat to his safety.
