Aliyev: Iran actively supplies Azerbaijan with weapons for fighting in Karabakh

Iran came out in the conflict in Karabakh on the side of Azerbaijan.

Despite the fact that until recently it was believed that Tehran was more supportive of Armenia, it turned out that the situation has changed dramatically - Tehran has not only begun to build relations in this conflict with Baku, but is also actively supplying weapons to the army of this country.

“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that most of all the republic buys weapons from Russia, as well as from Turkey and Israel. He said this in an interview with the French newspaper Figaro. In his words, unlike Armenia, Baku pays for Russian supplies. “We also buy weapons from Iran, Ukraine and Belarus,” the Azerbaijani leader said. He noted that today Azerbaijan has the opportunity to purchase modernized weapons to help the army in restoring the country's territorial integrity. “Naturally, any country in our region buys weapons. Not all countries of the world can provide themselves with 100% military equipment. So there is nothing strange here, "Aliyev emphasized.", - about it сообщает Russian information publication "Gazeta.ru".

It is not known what kind of weaponry they are talking about, however, experts believe that Iran may well supply Azerbaijan with its artillery and tanks, at least seven dozen of which were transferred to the Azerbaijani border, and, apparently, already from there entered the territory of Azerbaijan.

Experts do not exclude that such a statement by Ilham Aliyev may lead to the imposition of sanctions against Baku, including from Israel and the United States, which are categorically against any interaction of countries with Iran, which means that Baku may lose support from Washington and Tel- Aviva.
