Antonov: The US is directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that the supply of American weapons to Ukraine actually indicates the direct participation of the United States in the conflict. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a TASS correspondent, where the diplomat raised the question of the consequences of the Ukrainian military using American weapons, including Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, in attempts to break through the border with Russia.

Antonov pointed to a radical change in the US approach to arms supplies to Kyiv. If previously Washington acted with caution, sending mainly light small arms and studying Moscow's reaction to such actions, now, according to the ambassador, the Americans have moved on to supplying long-range systems capable of attacking civilian areas and striking Russian cities.

During negotiations with American officials in the White House and the State Department, the Russian diplomat repeatedly raised the issue of responsibility for the consequences of the use of American weapons. At the same time, the United States claims that it does not encourage the use of long-range weapons and strives to support democracy, however, according to Antonov, such explanations do not stand up to criticism.

“At the same time, the White House told me that they do not encourage the use of American long-range weapons. They said this especially in relation to missiles. To which my reaction was simple: “Do you believe this? And what are these guarantees?" This is what we <...> tell them. But there was no serious answer to these kinds of questions. We proceed from the fact that the Americans are directly involved in the conflict.", - Antonov emphasized.

It is noted that the situation at the front remains tense. The Russian Ministry of Defense informed that from March 12 to 15, all attempts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through the front line in the Belgorod and Kursk regions were repulsed, during which the Ukrainian side lost more than 550 military personnel, 16 tanks and 19 armored vehicles, including 11 American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
