The General Staff of North Macedonia agreed on the transfer of 12 Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine

North Macedonia will transfer 12 Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine.

The transfer of combat helicopters will take place on March 29, which will significantly expand the armament of the Ukrainian Air Force, especially against the background of fairly large losses of this equipment in recent times.

The Minister of Defense of North Macedonia, Slavyanka Petrovskaya, officially announced that the country will transfer 12 Mi-24 helicopters to Ukraine and acquire eight new Western-made combat vehicles. All this raised a number of questions as to whether the transfer of combat helicopters to Ukraine would create a threat to the country's national security. However, as it turned out, NATO assured North Macedonia that at that time the airspace of the state would be defended by the Greek Air Force.

Since recently, North Macedonia has been actively supplying Ukraine with its weapons and ammunition. However, this seems to be due to pressure from the West, as well as North Macedonia's intention to obtain Western military equipment, since further repairs of Soviet military equipment in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine are no longer possible.

All Mi-24 helicopters transferred to Ukraine are known to be in good condition, however, apparently, North Macedonia has a very limited amount of ammunition.
