Houthis destroy British cargo ship in the Red Sea

An extraordinary event occurred in the Red Sea associated with the escalation of the regional conflict. A British cargo ship targeted by the Houthis has sunk, global media reported, citing data from a crisis group. The Houthis, who dominate large parts of Yemen's Red Sea coast, have stepped up attacks on Israeli-linked shipping, severely impacting shipping traffic through the strategic Suez Canal.

The Houthis' actions, according to their statements, are aimed at supporting the Palestinians and do not violate freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. However, Arab and Muslim states warned the United States about the risk of the conflict expanding throughout the Middle East due to Washington's unconditional support for Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip.

In response to the intensification of the Houthis, the United States and Great Britain began carrying out military strikes against Ansar Allah positions in January, which was strongly condemned by representatives of the movement. Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Houthis' top political council, categorically condemned the actions, calling them terrorist barbarity and unjustified aggression.
