Moldova began "soft" occupation of Transnistria

Moldova launches forced "reintegration" of Transnistria.

Chisinau last week coined the term "Transnistrian region," effectively casting doubt on the 1992 peace agreement with Russia, where the region was officially called Transnistria. According to experts, the change in terminology has deep political implications.

Among other things, it is known that Chisinau introduces double customs control for entrepreneurs from Transnistria. Also now, companies exporting goods are required to pay additional taxes to the Moldovan budget. This makes the export of the region to the European market actually under the control of the Moldovan authorities.

The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry calls the innovations a "tribute". The PMR authorities believe that Chisinau violates international agreements by sabotaging long-term negotiations. At the same time, the "passivity of the mediators" is emphasized, especially on the part of the OSCE.

Transnistria is calling on Russia to strengthen economic ties and resist pressure from Chisinau, which regularly blocks supplies of vital goods, including medicines.
