According to the new agreements between the US and Finland, US aircraft will start using the infrastructure of the Rovaniemi airport in Lapland, which is located less than 150 km from the Russian border. This information was confirmed by Finnish President Sauli Niinistö.

Particular attention is drawn to the fact that in the near future an American military contingent will be deployed on the territory of the Finnish airport. This will be one of the key steps in the bilateral military cooperation agreements between the United States and the Nordic countries.

Nevertheless, experts note that this cooperation will strengthen the military presence of NATO, and in addition, we are talking about the deployment of carriers of tactical nuclear weapons, in fact, at a distance sufficient to strike at Russian territories.

According to preliminary data, F-35 fighters of the Finnish Air Force will also be deployed at the airbase in Lapland.
