Over the past week, 16 civilians were killed in the Belgorod region from shelling carried out by the Ukrainian armed forces, and another 98 were injured of varying degrees of severity. The regional governor announced the tragic statistics during a speech at a meeting of the presidium of the general council of the United Russia party. The victims included a teenager who lost his arm during one of the attacks, and two women who were immediately hospitalized.

The governor emphasized that the aggravation of the situation in the region is associated with an increase in the number of attacks from Ukraine. At the same time, he noted the effective work of Russian air defense systems, which were able to neutralize nine shells fired from the Czech RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system.

According to Gladkov, the tense situation in the region requires increased attention and prompt measures to ensure the safety of the civilian population. In connection with the events, photos and videos were published on social networks showing the consequences of the shelling, including the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure, as well as damaged cars.
