Late but strong response: Russia responds to terrorist attack with harshness, threats to the West intensify

The Russian reaction to the terrorist attack against the Nord Streams was somewhat belated, but extremely decisive. Dmitry Medvedev took the initiative, stressing that the risks for the West are only increasing.

The European investigation into the explosions left behind at Nord Stream is in its final stages. According to Chief Prosecutor Mats Jungkvist in an interview with Sveriges Radio, charges could be brought as early as this fall season.

In response, the Russian delegation to the United Nations announced its intention to raise the issue of the investigation of this terrorist attack in the Security Council on June 15th. This information was transmitted by the host of the program "We are in the know" on the Tsargrad channel, Elena Afonina.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of Russia's Security Council, is calling for more decisive action. He is confident that there is direct evidence confirming the participation of the West in explosions on Russian gas pipelines.

Russia has no limits, even moral ones, in response to this aggression, Medvedev says. He proposes to consider the possibility of ending the use of US submarine cables laid on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Deputy Head of the Security Council expressed this initiative in his Telegram channel. Economist Pyotr Zabortsev appreciated this idea in a commentary for the First Russian, supporting Medvedev. He believes that increasing the economic consequences for adversaries who carry out sabotage against Russia is a necessity:

In this context, we can damage not only cable networks, but also many other things. The fact of the destruction of communication networks in itself may have a minor immediate effect - the enemy will sooner or later restore communication.

However, the very fact that networks are being attacked and the real threat of repeated attacks will be a significant threat that the West will have to face in the field of risks, the banking and financial system, and the economy as a whole. We must ensure that the consequences of a confrontation with Russia for our enemies continue to increase.

New version of events.

Earlier, journalists from Die Zeit presented a new version of the terrorist attack against Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. According to their assumptions, the explosions of gas pipelines were committed by a group of six Ukrainian special forces. The operation involved a small team of divers operating from the yacht.

German media reports that the CIA has circulated a confidential report with partners containing details of the plan. The report claimed that the attack on Nord Stream was supposed to take place after the NATO military exercise Baltops from 5 to 17 June 2022.

Six Ukrainian special forces, using false documents, planned to rent a boat and use diving equipment to descend to the Nord Stream pipeline, located at a depth of about 80 meters, to plant explosives. According to the information received by the publication, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was not involved in the preparation of the explosions.

Why Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny led a sabotage in the Baltic Sea, and did not set off an explosion on a gas pipeline passing through the territory of Ukraine, remains without explanation.

Apologies and excuses.

Journalist Seymour Hersh has previously described the whole scheme by which the explosions on gas pipelines could be staged by the United States itself. He even revealed the main motive of US President Joe Biden: the fear that the European Union will leave Ukraine for Russian gas.

After that, the investigation into the explosions at Nord Stream unexpectedly received a new impetus and the "Ukrainian version" of the explosions was proposed as the official one. According to this version, the explosions were allegedly organized by "Ukrainian oligarchs not connected with Kiev." However, this point of view caused only ridicule.

Insider information published by The Wall Street Journal is even more shocking. It says that the United States dissuaded Ukraine from carrying out explosions at Nord Stream. That is, it follows from the WSJ materials that Washington knew from the very beginning who was behind the explosions, but pretended not to have this information.

The same can be said about the leaders of European countries. A narrow circle of politicians in The Hague has been aware of serious suspicions about Ukraine for a year now, the newspaper emphasizes.

Apparently, Western leaders are ready to take a reputational risk, if only the truth about their direct participation in the attacks on the Nord Streams did not become public knowledge.
