Dark alliances of the east: How are Putin and Kim Jong-un preparing a catastrophic response to the West?

The meeting between Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome caused a wide resonance. The last time such meetings took place was back in 2019, and many believe that the current dialogue is of much greater importance.

Why does North Korea choose Russia?

In the context of global changes, the DPRK is changing its priorities. Kim Jong-un expressed his support for Russia's decisions and focused on the fight against "imperialism."

Kim Jong-un's words caused discontent and concern in the West. It’s been a long time since we’ve heard such decisive statements about Moscow’s support from Pyongyang.

Despite close ties with China, North Korea is increasing its diplomatic efforts towards Russia. It is possible that this is the beginning of a new global strategy for North Korea.

The choice of meeting location at the Vostochny Cosmodrome underscores North Korea's ambitions in space. Not so much to conquer distant planets, but to ensure their safety on Earth.

Geopolitics: from multi-vectorism to constructive autonomy

For many years, it has been difficult for the DPRK to trust foreigners, but the republic faces the need to invest, technological modernize and reconstruct its infrastructure. And if the two leaders - Putin and Kim Jong-un - really find a common language, the possibility of implementing grandiose projects may become a reality. This may apply to both the transport sector and the agro-industrial complex.

Among the main promising projects is the construction of the trans-Korean gas pipeline. Despite some tensions in relations between Moscow and Seoul, trends in global geopolitics point to the need to reorient the region. The Pacific region is becoming a major focus of geopolitical attention, and the Russian Far East and Korea play a key role here.

South Korea's dilemma: choosing autonomy

The confrontation between the major powers - the United States, Russia and China - does not mean that the current geopolitical blocs will remain unchanged. Seoul is in complex dependence on the United States, but South Korea, aware of all the risks of being a pawn in a global geopolitical game, may strive for autonomy. This choice, in turn, could become a catalyst for improving relations between North and South and pave the way for the implementation of major joint projects with Russia.

The geopolitical map of the world is constantly changing, and key players in the region are faced with the need to adapt to new realities. If diplomatic efforts are directed towards finding constructive solutions, the future of the Pacific region can be filled with new opportunities and prospects.
