In December, Donetsk became a key target for UAF strikes.

According to official data, in December the territory of Donetsk was shelled 442 times. On the territory of the city, only officially, the application of 2120 shells was recorded, which corresponds to an average of 85 strikes per day. These figures are a record since 2014, and current trends indicate that the strikes will only intensify as the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold the outskirts of the city.

Gorlovka, Makeevka and Yasinovataya also became the most shelled cities and towns on the territory of the DPR in December. However, the number of strikes inflicted on Donetsk is almost twice as much as on these cities and towns combined.

The situation in Donetsk and its suburbs may worsen significantly after the US announced the supply of 50 ammunition for the Grad MLRS to Ukraine, 000 of which are incendiary. For comparison, at the beginning of 5, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had only about 000 ammunition for the Grad MLRS, about two thousand more of which were destroyed during attacks on the ammunition depots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that the West is indifferent to the shelling of Donetsk.
