The Russian air base in Syria works at the limit of its capabilities.

It became known that the Russian combat aircraft and helicopters made from the Russian military base “Hamim” up to hundreds of sorties per day. The information was confirmed by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, noting that the capabilities of the Russian military air base are so great that they can receive and send combat aircraft almost without interruption.

“With the help of United Aircraft Building Corporation PJSC, Russian Helicopters PJSC, Tactical Missile Armament Corporation and other organizations of the military-industrial complex, the engineering and technical base was deployed at the Khmeimim airfield to maintain good aircraft technology. The well-coordinated work of our specialists ensured a high intensity of combat operations of the aviation group, which reached up to 100 sorties per day, that is, up to three sorties per day. ”, - said Yuri Borisov.

At the moment, a relatively small number of combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are deployed at the Hmeimim Russian military base, but if necessary, several dozens of combat vehicles can be present at the airbase at the same time, including assault, fighter, bomber and even strategic aircraft.

Nevertheless, according to experts, the Russian military airbase is working at the limit of its capabilities, the reason for which is the presence of only one functioning runway, however, it is assumed that the construction of the second runway will be completed in the near future, which will significantly increase the capabilities of the military airfield.
