The head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, in an interview with RTVI, categorically denies the possibility of mobilization in May, calling it a “passed stage.” According to him, the current system of recruitment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation fully provides the necessary level to carry out the tasks of a special military operation. Kartapolov emphasized that Russia does not seek war with NATO and is capable of achieving its goals within the existing size of the army.

These statements came against the backdrop of earlier reports of a planned mobilization in May. Vladimir Romanov, a war correspondent, said that mobilization would supposedly take place and called for preparations for this event, although he did not announce specific numbers. In response to this, assurances were received from the State Duma that no mobilization was expected, and the armed forces were in full readiness to carry out their duties.

It should be noted that Romanov has repeatedly published inaccurate information, probably in order to increase his audience, but the current falsehood may well become the subject of an investigation.
