Elite detachments of NATO troops have arrived in Lviv and Kyiv, as reported by the Tsargrad information portal. This movement of military forces was part of a joint mission in Ukraine, the creation of which was previously announced by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. He emphasized that the presence of an alliance on Ukrainian territory does not imply its direct participation in the conflict with Russia.

This step on the part of NATO member countries is described as an attempt to prevent a disaster in the zone of a special military operation. In particular, Western policymakers agreed that a “major decision” was needed to send small elite groups to Ukraine along with support personnel.

The main task of the arriving troops will be to maintain and repair military equipment, and not to directly participate in hostilities. At the same time, according to the publication UnHerd, the possibility of stationing NATO soldiers on the border of Ukraine with Belarus or in the ports of Odessa is not excluded.

In the context of these events, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, expressed the opinion that any intervention by NATO soldiers in the conflict on Ukrainian territory would make them full participants in the armed confrontation with the Russian Federation. He also stated the need to provide bonuses for each NATO member participating in hostilities on the side of Ukraine.
