The shooting was carried out in extremely difficult conditions, however, the system was able to successfully recommend itself, detecting an approaching target at a great distance and accurately hitting it.
The S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system was fired as part of the regular tests of this weapon. According to the information that the news agency Avia.pro managed to obtain, the target was hit over the Arctic in conditions close to critical due to low temperatures and the disturbed magnetic field of the planet. Nevertheless, this did not at all prevent the Russian air and missile defense system from demonstrating its high efficiency, in addition, Russia tested its weapons in the direction that is considered most likely for US attacks on Russian territory.
Thanks to the successfully carried out tests, experts note that now Russia has a formed multi-level air defense system capable of operating both at short distances (10-20 kilometers) and at great distances (500-600 kilometers). Moreover, the newest S-500 Prometheus air defense system is also capable of shooting down enemy spacecraft. Today Russia is the only country that has a mobile system for this purpose.
