Odessa International Airport - the airport of the Ukrainian city of Odessa, is one of the biggest Ukrainian airports. From it there are regular flights to Kiev, some cities of Ukraine, Russia and the CIS, the Middle East and Western Europe.

The airport is located in the south of Ukraine, located near seaports: Kherson, Nikolaev, Ilyichevsk and Odessa.

In 1908, the local entrepreneur AA Anatra bought near a military training ground Strelbischnoe field land. Later on it he placed aircraft repair shops that with 1913 has received the name "Plant airplanes Anatra" Pilot School (aero club) and the school airfield, designed for test flights. It is noteworthy that the name "school" for a long time fixed for the aerodrome.

The first mention of the airport in Odessa dates back to 1924 year. 21.05.1924, at the Shkolny airfield, adopted the first test flight, and then a full-fledged passenger flight, following the direction Kharkov-Odessa. Later, regular flights to Moscow and Kharkov were opened from Odessa. They were performed by the first Soviet passenger aircraft K-5.

Before 1961, the main airport of the city of Odessa was considered Airport Zastava. But 1961 was his specialty was changed in the first place with the aerodrome flights were conducted to carry out agricultural work on helicopters and airplanes An-2. Also to 80-ies carried away many local flights to major cities in Ukraine. Zastava Airport was closed in 1994, at its territory is now reserved for the Western Cemetery in Odessa.

On the basis of the airfield School in 1960, the construction of a new terminal building (currently in its place is the border troops and aircraft repair plant), and the runway. With 1961, the airport began to take Tu-104. He entered the first three airports that can take jet airliner.

The area of the airport is 570, 8 hectares.

As 2013, the capacity of the Odessa airport was 400 passengers per hour. With 1982 years working at the airport cargo terminal.

An airport runway with a width of 56 m and a length of 2800 m was constructed at the airport. The taxiway has a width of 17,6 m, connecting lanes - 16 m. This allows the object to receive Russian (Yak-42, Tu-134, Tu-154) and foreign aircraft . According to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the airport belongs to the category of meteorological minimum. Constructed almost 50 years ago, Odessa Airport was practically not subjected to reconstruction. Most of the inconsistencies with the standards lie in the condition of covering the tracks of the aerodrome (insufficient bearing capacity and unsatisfactory flatness), as well as in the complex transverse and longitudinal profiles of the steering tracks and runways). The runway is covered with asphalt concrete. Steering tracks, runways and aircraft parking areas are built of cement concrete slabs 25-26 cm thick with a compacted soil base. The plates are reinforced with double-layer asphalt concrete with a reinforced geogrid, the thickness of which is 12 cm.
