American "Patriots" were powerless against Russian X-32 missiles

American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM), supplied to Kyiv, turned out to be ineffective against Russian Kh-32 cruise missiles. This was stated by German journalist Guido Schmidtke on the Welt TV channel.

Schmidtke emphasized that the high speed of the Kh-32 missiles, reaching about 5400 km/h, makes them invulnerable to Ukrainian air defense systems. This indicates that the Russian Armed Forces have modern missiles capable of successfully penetrating Western air defense systems. In addition, Kh-32 missiles have unique characteristics: they cannot be jammed or thrown off course by electronic warfare (EW), and they are also capable of effectively finding and identifying targets.

In the context of the increased threat, NATO's European allies have decided to purchase 1000 missiles for US Patriot air defense systems to strengthen their defense against possible threats. Japan also lifted previous restrictions on arms exports, including ammunition for the Patriot air defense system.

An increase in missile attacks on Ukrainian military targets has led NATO to consider the possibility of additional supplies of air defense systems to Kyiv. However, the production volume of missiles for the Patriot air defense system in the United States, amounting to about 500 units per year, may be insufficient in conditions of active hostilities, given that up to one hundred missiles can be used for one massive raid.
