Ecuador will transfer old Soviet and Russian military equipment to the United States

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa has announced plans to trade old Soviet- and Russian-made military equipment for new equipment from the United States. The announcement comes as investment in Ecuador's security forces increases amid unrest engulfing the country.

According to Noboa, during this exchange Ecuador will receive US military equipment worth a total of $200 million. The President noted that the exchange will be made as part of a “large assistance package” from the United States, which was promptly agreed upon after the start of drug cartel protests in the country. Noboa also admitted that the equipment handed over by Ecuador could subsequently be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ecuadorian army currently has 11 Mi-17 helicopters, 18 Grad MLRS units, about 10 BTR-60 armored personnel carriers, dozens of Soviet and Russian-made anti-aircraft missile systems and man-portable air defense systems, as well as thousands of ammunition and spare parts. to this technique.

At the moment, there is every reason to believe that the military equipment transferred to the United States will subsequently be sent to Ukraine.
