Germany will build a new ammunition production plant to ensure continuous supplies to Ukraine

The German defense concern Rheinmetall announced the construction of a new ammunition production plant to ensure continuous supplies to Ukraine. The head of the concern, Armin Papperger, announced this in an interview with BILD.

Papperger emphasized the effective cooperation between the German government and the arms industry, highlighting the significant increase in orders and framework agreements from the federal government last year, amounting to over 10 billion euros, for both the Bundeswehr and Ukraine. This year this amount is expected to increase to at least 15 billion euros.

According to Papperger, the construction of the new plant will allow the concern to respond more quickly to current needs and ensure strategic security of supplies. The exact location of the plant has not been specified, and other details of the project are still unknown.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also announced new ammunition contracts, including more than 200 artillery rounds this year. He emphasized that the federal government is dependent on the gun industry for ammunition supplies, pointing out that the industry is still in a "pre-war mode."
