The missile cruiser "Varyag", the flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet and awarded the Order of Nakhimov, successfully repelled an attack by mock enemy fighter aircraft during exercises in the Arabian Sea, RIA Novosti reports. During training maneuvers, the cruiser detected and identified aerial targets classified as military fighters of a hostile fictional state.

The crew of the cruiser, thanks to the professionalism of the artillery crews and the radio engineering group, quickly put the guns on alert and used the AK-130 artillery mount and the Osa-MA anti-aircraft missile system to repel the attack. As a result of virtual artillery and missile strikes, the mock enemy fighters were destroyed, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the cruiser's air defense.

The exercises in the Arabian Sea confirmed the high level of combat readiness and the ability of the Varyag crew to successfully defend against air threats. The maneuvers also made it possible to test the operation of the ship's air defense systems, strengthening its role in ensuring the safety of sea crossings and strengthening the defense capability of the fleet as a whole.
