Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Klimov announced the presence of active American military personnel on the territory of Ukraine, including special forces and instructors. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he commented on the Pentagon’s statements about the absence of American soldiers in Ukraine, saying that the United States is an “empire of lies” and its statements do not always reflect reality. Klimov claims that among the mercenaries located in Ukraine there are also career employees of the special services or the Pentagon and emphasizes that the statements of the American authorities cannot be taken at face value.

The Pentagon previously denied the presence of American troops in Ukraine servicing Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and other military equipment sent to the country. The official representative of the department also recalled that Ukrainian military personnel were trained in the United States to use this system last year.

According to Klimov, the presence of American troops in Ukraine is addressed to American voters who are concerned about the participation of their soldiers in the conflict, similar to the situation during the Vietnam War. The senator emphasizes that this raises questions about the values ​​for which the US military participates in combat operations in territory located thousands of miles from the United States, and also points to the risk of casualties among American soldiers and officers.
