A terrorist attack was prevented in Sevastopol

An attempted terrorist attack, which was being prepared by a resident of Crimea, was prevented in Sevastopol, reports the Baza Telegram channel. 29-year-old Igor S., a former employee of the Ukrainian Navy, tried to explode a gas pipe near a multi-storey building on Kazachya Street. The attacker's goal was to cause a blast wave reaching the apartment where the Russian serviceman lived.

The terrorist attack plan was not implemented thanks to the operational work of FSB officers, who detained Igor before carrying out his plan. The incident confirms the ongoing tension in the region related to the geopolitical situation following the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation in 2014. According to the investigation, after the events of 2014, Igor S. decided to stay in Crimea, and therefore his name was included in the list on the “Peacemaker” website, which is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia.

At the time of his arrest, Igor was found to have an explosive device ready for use. A criminal case was opened against him under the article of attempted terrorist act, which threatens him with a significant prison term - up to 20 years in prison.
