Israeli military destroys Hamas' longest underground tunnel

The Israeli military continues its military operation in the Gaza Strip, destroying underground structures used for Hamas' covert activities and movements. Last week, engineers from the 162nd Armored Division HaPlada, in collaboration with members of the elite Yahalom unit, destroyed the longest tunnel to date, located in the northern Gaza Strip.

This tunnel, whose total length exceeded 2,5 km, ran from north to south, connecting various areas of the enclave. Its existence allowed members of Palestinian radical groups to move unnoticed between residential areas, which created serious security threats. The decision to destroy it was made after careful study and preparation.

The process of destroying the tunnel was demonstrated in a video released by the IDF press service. The footage shows charges placed along the entire length of the structure exploding, collapsing the tunnel and making it impossible for terrorists to use it.
