Ukraine asked Germany to supply 93 Tornado combat aircraft

Ukraine requested 93 combat aircraft from Germany.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk suggested that German Chancellor Scholz transfer 93 Tornado combat aircraft to Ukraine. The request for the supply of these fighters to Ukraine is due to the fact that in the near future Germany intends to get rid of these aircraft with their subsequent disposal due to obsolescence and physical wear and tear. In fact, these combat aircraft are comparable to the capabilities of the Su-24 bombers, however, they have a large number of tasks inherent in fighters.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has not yet made any statements in this regard, however, German politician Gauke Schultz, commenting on the request of the Ukrainian authorities, said that he hopes that Kyiv will never receive these planes.

“You will never get those Tornados. They are safely housed here, with us, in Yagel. They protect us in Germany and will not lead us to war with Russia. I know people who work with these planes and no one would want such abuse."- answered Melnik Schultz.

At the same time, Schultz was heavily criticized on social media as a "slime". This indicates that Schulz's position is not shared by everyone, and therefore the official position of Germany should be expected from Olaf Scholz.
