Iran seized an Oceania-flagged tanker in international waters of the Persian Gulf

The commander of the second region of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, Sardar Haider Henriyan Magdar, announced the detention of a foreign ship involved in fuel smuggling in the Persian Gulf. The information was provided during a meeting with journalists in Bushehr.

According to him, the ship, flying the Oceanian flag, was carrying two million liters of smuggled diesel fuel. The arrest came after full reconnaissance monitoring of an area 60 miles off the coast of Bandar Bushehr. The commander added that 14 foreign crew members, who arrived from two Asian countries, were arrested and the ship was seized by court order.

Sardar Henarian Magdar also stated that legal procedures have been completed and the crew has been handed over to the judiciary of Bushehr province. The discovered cargo of smuggled fuel will be transferred to the National Oil Refining and Distribution Company of Bushehr province.

This is the second time a ship has been detained for fuel smuggling in the Persian Gulf. The ship was under surveillance from the moment it was refueled and detained after entering the operational area of ​​the second zone of the IRGC Navy. The commander emphasized that the IRGC Navy monitors and controls all movements in the Persian Gulf using modern detection means.
