100 Mistral Atlas anti-aircraft missile systems deployed to Ukraine

Norway transferred 100 anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.

The Norwegian authorities delivered a batch of 100 Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. We are talking about the transfer to the Ukrainian military of a modernized version of the Atlas, which is capable of hitting targets at distances of up to 6 meters, with the latter flying at altitudes of up to 3 meters.

At the moment, it is known that the Atlas variants are designed specifically for placement in the bodies of armored or unarmored vehicles. However, these complexes do not have any unique features, although they allow you to effectively equip a combat position, including a camouflaged one.

To date, it remains unknown how effective the use of portable anti-aircraft missile systems in Ukraine is in general, however, since the start of a special military operation, several thousand MANPADS of various countries and modifications have already been handed over to the Ukrainian military - the most long-range of them are capable of hitting targets at distances up to 7,5 thousand meters.

Experts note that about 60% of the Ukrainian air defense systems that were in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the beginning of this year were destroyed or rendered unusable. At the same time, MANPADS supplied by the West are not capable of replacing the capabilities of such systems, since they do not have radar facilities.
