A US military base located in eastern Syria at the Koniko gas field came under rocket fire. RIA Novosti reports this, citing information from an informed local source.

According to the source, after the shelling, a column of smoke was observed in the southern part of the field. It is clarified that a salvo of four missiles was probably fired from the vicinity of the city of Deir ez-Zor, located in northeastern Syria.

Similar attacks on American military bases in Iraq and Syria have been occurring regularly recently. Most of them are claimed by armed Shiite groups active in Iraq. These groups oppose the presence of American troops in the region and launch attacks on their positions.
