Citizens of other countries can join the Russian army by entering into an appropriate service contract.

The Sakharovo Migration Center will cooperate with the RF Ministry of Defense and will grant the right to foreign citizens to conclude a contract for service in the Russian army. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the institution will create all the necessary infrastructure that will allow foreign citizens to enter military service.

“In the very near future, the Moscow government will deploy in Sakharovo a full-fledged infrastructure to assist the Russian Ministry of Defense in organizing the entry into military service of foreign citizens”- said Sergei Sobyanin.

It is not known how effective the approach to recruiting foreign citizens may be, however, experts believe that in reality, the number of applicants may be very large, since earlier citizens of other states expressed their readiness to serve in the Russian army on a contract basis.

It is noteworthy that earlier the State Duma adopted a law on simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship by foreigners who signed an annual contract for service in the Russian Armed Forces.
