The United States of America expressed its categorical unacceptability of the appearance in Cuba of a new Russian military base, the creation of which should begin at old Soviet military facilities, some of which are still mothballed.

According to the ex-head of the Nativ special service, Yakov Kedmi, the appearance of Russian military bases and facilities in Cuba may become a very big problem for Washington, since in this case Russia will not only be able to control the situation on US territory, but also pose a threat to most of the American military bases.

“Kedmi noted that Washington was hysterical over the possible resumption of the Russian base in Cuba. The United States is confident that if this happens, then Russia will increase its influence on the international arena. According to the expert, the Soviet Union needed a military base in Cuba to counterbalance the American encirclement of its territory with missile bases. "- сообщает information portal "New Inform".

To date, Russia does not officially comment on the construction of its military facilities on the territory of Cuba, however, the entire infrastructure is practically preserved here, and, as experts say, it is only required to give it a new look and place modern weapons.
