Antonov An-2 a multipurpose biplane with a small distance off and landing, designed primarily for use as a light transport aircraft, as well as its application in agriculture.

The idea of developing an aircraft capable of taking off and landing in hard-to-reach and sparsely populated areas of the USSR was put forward back in 1940 by Oleg Konstantinovich Antonov.

However, Antonov's project in February 1941 was rejected due to the low flight speed of the proposed aircraft. But on January 16, 1946, nevertheless, permission was given to build a low-speed biplane O. K. Antonov, and first of all for the rise of the national economy in the post-war years. Already on March 6 of the same year, a decree was adopted on the creation of a design team, OKB-153, to build a single-engine, transport-cargo biplane with a short take-off run. It was supposed to release two versions of the aircraft.

The first version of the ball should be intended for military transport purposes and have an engine-ASH-62IR, and the second version with the engine of the AS-21, was intended for agricultural purposes. In July 1947, the first model of the aircraft was built, which received the designation CX-1. The first flight of an airplane with an installed ASH-62IR engine designed by Shevtsov was made by test pilot PN Volodin, 31 August 1947. Flights with this engine were made before 10 September 1947 year, after which, the model of the aircraft was installed engine АШ-21. After all the factory tests, 4 October 1947 year, the aircraft was transferred to the state commission, for conducting state tests.

In 1948, after all tests were carried out, the An-2 aircraft entered flight operation. And initially it began to be used in the processing of rural fields.

The code word NATO air ships (NATO reporting names), An-2 aircraft received the designation «Colt», which translated means "colt". The people, the aircraft received the name of "maize", as used in large quantities during the sowing of corn fields in times of Khrushchev in the Soviet Union.

Originally developed as an aircraft for agricultural work, An-2 became very fast multi-purpose aircraft - ranging from piloting skills training to military applications in passenger traffic on domestic routes.

Biplane An-2 has the following modifications:

An-2SKH - for farm work

An-2F - for aerial photography

An-2T - transport version

An-2TD - amphibious transport modification

An-2TP - freight passenger version

A 2PP - fire option, with water floats

An-2V - a variant with floats for landing on the water surface.

There have also been released, such as the modification of the An-3, with an engine HPT-20, the water version of the An-4 with float landing gear and weather reconnaissance An-6.

In addition to the USSR and then Russia and Ukraine, the aircraft was manufactured in Poland and China.

Moreover, if in Poland and Russia the production of these aircraft is suspended, then China continues to produce them. On Chinese models, the HS-5 engine is installed, an analogue of the ASh-62IR engine. Chinese An-2, received the designation Shijiazhuang Y-5. In total, China produces up to 20 of these machines a year. In Ukraine, today the production of An-2 has resumed, but only in a modernized version. In 2013, at the state enterprise "Antonov" in Kiev, testing of the modernized version of the An-2-100 was started. This version of the aircraft is equipped with an MS-14 turboprop engine developed by a Ukrainian enterprise. PJSC "Motor Sich".

Due to the fact that this An-2 biplane is easy to operate, economical, capable of taking off from unprepared unpaved airfields and has a short take-off and run length, in 2012 the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation decided to carry out a deep modernization up to a thousand aircraft An-2015. This modernization includes replacement of engines, increase in flight range and installation of modern aeronautical equipment.

To date, it produced more than 18 thousand aircraft An-2, various modifications.

View all planes ...

He flew AN-2, cool samolet.Samoe importantly, despite to.chto pornevoy AL-62 in the cabin a little drendit on it as a biplane, virtually no stalling threshold, as monoplane.Da and speed of his takeoff-about 65 km / ch.da and mechanization is very steep for a biplane, not only the flaps and slats, but also on each trimmery.Ne biplane is meet !!! Da.Antonov created a masterpiece of small aircraft, durable and nadezhnyy.a most importantly, simple in circulation!!!

I flew confirm. then flew on different types of memory was this.

Cool samaleck. He studied in Chita, DOSAAF, skipped with a parachute, in the distant 1988 year. The truth all shakes, such impression, in a basin on sleepers drag, in the rest all norms.
